At Youngblood we have always encouraged any creatives within our space and with the recent addition of our new in-house restaurant we are embracing the art of food.

The fact is food is an art form in its own right! The way that the ingredients complement each other and that the flavours get mixed just to the right degree to form the ‘perfect palette colour’. The execution and presentation of food as it gets framed on the plate.

All of this stems from one idea and suddenly it comes to life. If art evokes some type of feeling or conversation we believe it has reached its purpose, and at foodLAB the food is definitely something to talk about!

Meet the Chef

Do not be fooled by a skinny chef! Naseer Abdullah, executive head chef of foodLAB, was born and raised in the Cape Flats by his mother (Accountant) and father (Fire industry). It was however his Granny that evoked his passion for cooking. At every family gathering she stood relentlessly behind the cooking pots and made the most delicious food. Whenever he tastes Briyani or Lamb Curry it takes him straight back to his childhood.

After Abdullah’s studies he started head on in the food industry in 2009, from the catering industry to Madame Zingara and now foodLAB, he has never looked back!
