Lynn Rudolf Fundraiser – 14 Sep
Lynn Rudolph was accepted to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire to complete her master’s degree, majoring in performance.
She has been offered a scholarship from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire which provides partial funding for her tuition fees. However, the scholarship does not cover the full amount of her studies nor her living expenses. In November 2018, she attended a live audition at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where she performed the viola and was immediately accepted into the master’s program.
In 2017, she received the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival scholarship to travel to New York for prospective post-graduate studies. She met with and was guided by well-proclaimed violists of the Eastman school of Music, Manhattan School of music and Bard College. When she returned home, she was informed that she had received an anonymous donation to travel to Europe for prospective post-graduate studies, where she travelled to Turkey and Italy for courses and was well received by the lecturer of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
The above opportunities were possible by generous sponsorships and donations. In light of her financial circumstances, she requires further funding to complete her master’s degree at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. In order for her to realize her dream, she has organized a concert with local talents showcasing various musical genres. She hopes to fundraise approximately R92 000,00 to cover the shortfall and which will allow her to attend the master’s program.
Although she has been selected to attend the program based on her musical gift, she is not able to pursue this once in a lifetime opportunity due to financial constraints. Due to the significant gap between South Africa’s economy and that of the United Kingdom, her single-income household is unable to finance her dreams of being a part of the Orchestra.
With the monies raised, she intends to cover the costs of renting an apartment in Birmingham for a period of 2 years, cover all medical and travel related costs and insurance, and any additional living costs for the duration of her master’s degree.
She invites you to attend her benefit performance at YoungBlood Art Gallery situated at Bree Street, City Centre, Cape Town, on Thursday, 14 September 2019 at 19:30 for 20:00. Drinks and canapes will be served, and certain prizes will be auctioned. An entrance fee of R350,00 will be accepted at the door which will include the costs of the night as well as a small donation towards her dream.
