ARTIST STATEMENT
Afro Pop Art
My work explores bright colour patterns and female portraiture, as the female figure represents strength in most
African families.
Influenced by the Pop Art movement made famous by Andy Warhol, I created my own version, called Afro Pop
Art. My version has a deliberate twist in the colour schemes and a more detailed approach, allowing the women
to stand out and stand tall.
Ever since I was a young boy, I have been fascinated by drawing portraits of public figures. That love grew from there and transferred onto canvas years later.
